About Dan Guinn
Attorney Dan Guinn is a firm believer both in taking the road less traveled, and in constantly taking non-traditional approaches-even to his career. These attributes offer benefits to him and to the clients he serves.
Upon graduating from high school in 1994, he chose to postpone college for service to his country in the United States Navy. He served for 5 years onboard the USS Princeton as a mechanic. During this time he participated in two six-month deployments overseas; first, to Central and South America in 1997 in support on the United States War on Drugs and the second, to the Persian Gulf in 1998 and 1999 in operations against Iraq.
During his time onboard the USS Princeton, Dan received two promotions, along with numerous individual and group commendations. He was awarded both the Navy Achievement Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.
In 2000 he was transferred to Great Lakes, IL where he became an instructor in diesel and auxiliary mechanics. During his time at Great Lakes he completed his Associates Degree at Lake County Community College and earned another Good Conduct Medal.
In 2003, it was time for a career change.
After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Navy, he began working towards his Bachelors Degree at Western Illinois University. In 2005 he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a major in History and a minor in Political Science.
In August, 2005, Dan began law school at Thomas M. Cooley Law School, where he graduated Cum Laude in January, 2009. During his time in Law School, he volunteered at numerous legal organizations, including the Appellate Division of the Michigan Attorney General's Office. Dan also worked as a legal intern for Cooley's Elder Law Clinic. His duties as a legal intern ranged from drafting estate planning documents to Civil Litigation matters. He also received the Leadership Achievement Award from Cooley Law School upon graduating and was a semi-finalist in Cooley's Mock Trial Competition.

Dan Guinn entered law school with the hope of helping people and make positive changes to the world around him. His desire and passion for helping others led to the choice to open his own law firm, as opposed to working at a large firm.
Dan works to help people immediately and wanted to work for a law firm with his vision and goals. He is a hard working, dedicated individual that gets things done.
